Magnesium is one of the minerals that drops most reliably when carbs go down and water turnover goes up. Glycinate is the form most people tolerate best.
What to look for
- Glycinate or bisglycinate rather than oxide, which absorbs poorly
- Elemental magnesium per serving stated on the label, not just compound weight
- Third party tested brands, since supplement labelling is loosely policed
- Capsule count against price, because this is something you take daily

The catch
Glycinate costs more than citrate, and the labels can be confusing because the capsule weight is not the magnesium dose. Too much of any form can cause loose stools.
