Breath Ketone Meter
Breath Ketone Meter
No pick
Breath meters vary a lot in reliability and many cheap listings borrow the name of better known brands. We could not find one we are confident recommending, so for real numbers we would point you to a blood meter instead.
Chosen from the ingredient label and independent sources, not tested in our kitchen. Last checked October 2026. The rest of this guide helps you judge any alternative. We earn a commission if you buy through the link on this page, at no extra cost to you. How this works.
Measures acetone on your breath, which rises when you burn fat for fuel. There are no strips to buy and no finger pricks, so you can test as often as you like after the first purchase.
What to look for
- A meter made for ketones rather than a relabelled alcohol breathalyser
- Replaceable mouthpieces, especially if two people share it
- Clear instructions for warm up and calibration
- Reviews that mention consistent readings from one day to the next
Good to know
Breath meters are less precise than a blood meter and are best used to follow your own trend over time. Alcohol, mouthwash and some sweets can skew a reading, so test before eating or drinking.

The catch
Breath readings are less reliable than blood readings and different devices disagree with each other. Use it to follow your own trend, not to chase a specific number.
