Lower in carbs than peanut butter and useful in everything from fat bombs to satay style sauces. The good ones contain almonds and perhaps salt, and nothing else.
What to look for
- Almonds and salt as the full ingredient list
- No added sugar, honey or palm oil
- Oil separation in the jar, which is a sign nothing was added to stop it
- Smooth for baking and sauces, crunchy for eating by the spoon
How to use it
Stir the oil back in when you first open the jar, then keep it in the fridge so it stays mixed. A tablespoon is a serving, and it is worth weighing because it is easy to double without noticing.

The catch
It is easy to eat 400 calories of it from a spoon without noticing. Plain peanut butter has slightly more carbs but costs about half as much, and for most people it fits a keto day just as well.
